Bibiani Gold Stars have made history by winning the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League title, becoming league champions for the first time since the club’s formation.
The team secured the trophy on the final day of the season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Accra Lions at Dun’s Park in Bibiani. Goals from Abdul Farouk Amoaful, Kelvin Oppong, Samuel Atta Kumi, and Frank Amankwah sealed the emphatic win that saw them leap ahead of Nations FC, who suffered a 2-0 defeat to FC Samartex on the same day.
The victory sparked wild celebrations in the Western North Region, as Bibiani Gold Stars finished the season on 61 points, completing a fairytale run in front of their home fans. The team’s strong home record played a major role in their success, with just one loss and only five goals conceded at home throughout the campaign.
This is the first time in years that a club outside the traditional giants Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, and AshantiGold has won the league, signaling a new shift in Ghana’s football landscape. With the title, Bibiani Gold Stars have also booked their place in the next CAF Champions League, representing Ghana on the continental stage. Club officials say preparations are already underway to strengthen the squad ahead of their maiden continental appearance. The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the next Premier League season will begin on September 12, 2025, giving teams just under three months to regroup before the new campaign begins.
The triumph of Bibiani Gold Stars is being hailed as a boost for Ghanaian football development, particularly in regions outside Accra and Kumasi, and a reminder that determination, community support, and tactical consistency can produce champions.
